Re: Tips for composition

Hi, sorry for the delay, hopefully you will see my reply.
Do you have a wider shot/s so that I can see the wall in a broader setting, then I could give you my opinion on various alternative compositions?

Re: New 4/3 Lenses from Olympus!

Wow! Those are great lenses. I bet the 150mm f/2 can use a 2x teleconverter and get a 300mm f/4. That's like 2 lenses for the price of a single 300mm f/4. The 8mm f/3.5 is nice too. Hard to tell the use price but probably half what the 8mm f/1.8 costs. Another great option. I may lead with this in ...

New 4/3 Lenses from Olympus!

Not new as in not seen before but brand new from Olympus! I didn't believe it when I first saw it but they're on the official EU shop website listed as "available soon" register for availability notifications.

Useful video re lens focusing

The tip given in the video shows where the focus area is in your photo and also shows you if you have curvature in your lens.
NB. The method shown uses Photoshop but you may be able to recreate the same effect in other software.

Re: Macro Setting Tests

To complete this set of tests, my last 3 images. This time I moved the ruler closer to the camera so that the front of the ruler was directly under the front element of the lens to see where the focus starts and ends (camera was at an angle of ~25°). Sets of 10 images, focus differentials of 1,2 & 3...

Re: Macro Setting Tests

3 more images, sets of 10 photos at differentials of 1,2 & 3.
On this occasion with only 10 shots the setting of 3 did not result in the D-O-F extending to the rear of the frame, so depending on how much D-O-F you need, you may have to shoot more than 10 frames.

Re: Macro Setting Tests

Here are the three photos at focus differentials of 2,3 & 4.
Once you get to 3 the whole of the ruler is in focus, so anything above this makes no difference.
I'll now run the tests again reducing the number of photos in the set from 15 to 10 to see what effect this has.

Re: MACRO - Choosing your Kit

Oh dear, I've just recently just purchased the 30mm Macro  . Luckily I got it on a special and only paid £150. I'm now doing some 'tests' to try and work out how to get the best out of it and am publishing my findings in a thread in this sub-forum. I also have some extension rings so will give...

Macro Setting Tests

I've done a series of shots using different differential settings to try and work out how the settings affect the focal distance/s. Camera is E-M1 MkII, lens is M.Zuiko 30mm Macro @f11 - Number of shots = maximum of 15 Shots with the focus differential of 1 have the shortest depth of field, the diff...

Re: C-AF vs. C-AF with tracking

With the +tracking option if you were to keep the camera still and you subject moved within the viewfinder the focus point would follow the subject. Below is how it's explained in the manual. "Press the shutter button halfway to focus; the camera then tracks and maintains focus on the current subjec...
