Never mind. I found the problem. I set my camera's "flicker reduction" to "50hrz". Apparently, anything other than "auto" messes with the cameras ability to no do this. I just got the 75mm f/1.8 and it has an interesting behaviour when shooting in PSAM modes. Because this lens has very large aperture blades, you can hear the blades quite easily.
