I had just removed the UV filter and put a short metal shade on the lens, and just stepped outside to try a couple of shots (really needed to take before and after) but I suspect I would see no difference. The blossom was probably 8' off the ground. My wife was out watering things, hence the water on the bloom. All serendipity.

You got the whole flower in razor focus and the background totally blurred.... doesn't get much better!
