Caterpillar at dusk

A great opportunity rather than a great photo. This little guy, about 1 cm, was on the front doorstep just before dark.I got so excited - "This is what the macro lens is for!" I managed to get this before the light went. Tips on how to do this better welcomed.

What a wondrous creature. Colours look great. Maybe a smaller aperture for more dof.
Macro is hard and low to the floor work, which is why I don’t do it.

Nice one. I would have moved that thing indoors, grabbed a handful of weeds, then do a few studio shots with flash and/or focus stacking. Then put it back outside.

Thanks Rob,I wish I'd thought of doing that! Much better than crawling round, lying on the ground, and struggling with manual focus. I'll remember for next time

Thanks Dave. I hope one day I can find another and use some flash and do some focus stackng
