Mallows Bay, Maryland
A few pictures from Mallows Bay in Maryland. This is now a kayak park but in the past it was the last resting place of a mothball fleet of ships constructed in Alexandria, VA around the time of WWI. Supposedly there are about 230 ships here. Eventually most of them were stripped of metal and either left to rot or burned to the waterline. Now you can get a kayak tour of the area for both the history of the ships and the nature that is reclaiming this part of the Potomac river. Lots of bald eagles there now. These pictures were taken a few years ago.
