Some traffic in the backyard

While stuck at home the backyard is almost the only place to take pictures outdoors. Although it's not strictly forbidden to leave the house here in Hamburg. Here are some bugs enjoying the sun while its getting warmer.

Nature is amazing. I love the pattern on their back. Any idea what kind of bug that is?

That are fire bugs (Pyrrhocoris apterus) according to Wikipedia. In German they are called Feuerwanze. So it's almost the same name.

Wow, Grischa,
What a great find, and a superb subject for macro photography. Are there any more pictures in this series? It'd be great to see them and, maybe, you could have a play with post processing to see what's possible?

Thanks Rick & MagRat.

Yes there are some more pictures. I will see if there are any that are worth showing.
In post I did some cropping, colour adjustment and lighten up some shadows. I am a real beginner in raw processing. Working with darktable and I have to learn the software. I'm in the trial and error phase.

Similar to Boxelder tree bugs here in the USA. Similar red makings but very plain compared to yours. Yours are much more colorful. You might try a macro photo, Robin would love it!

Here some macro of the same bugs, but in Romania :)) They were fighting over some food, one of them eventually won, and started to eat.

Great shots Paul!
I tried it myself. I don't have a macro lens. So I used the 14-42mm kit lens with a 16mm extension tube. That costs some light and these bugs are almost constantly moving. Couldn't stop down further. So this one came out. Shot with E-M10 II @ 42mm, f 6.3, 1/60th, ISO 200:
