going up and up...

Post by fjhleger »

Memories from before confinment, French Alps, on the way to Eychauda lake…

Two vertically aligned shots from a single stand point are from 2008, very good weather, and a lot of people on the track that day.

That is crazy! People look like ants. What was the total elevation of the hike?

This depends where you start.

The target lake stand at 2526m/8290ft, the highest place where you can decently leave your car is 1720m/5643ft, which result into 806m/2710ft to climb and descend, not too too high but slightly difficult because this is not a very long treck (11km/6.8 miles).

You need to count a little more than 5 hours for the return trip.

That is doable. I really suffer when the hike has a steep vertical climb. I need to get back into shape!

If one day, you decide to travel to europe, here is the presentation of this treck, all measurements use the metric system (meters for altitude, kilometers for length) with the elevation per distance.

There is a variation a little longer that offers a different return path, but this return path is more difficult and steep.
