I am DeMorcan on youtube and Eloha Peoples on facebook now after problems with my Wayne R Crauder account there.
I learned photography on field camera in the 1950s from my grandfather. In 1964 I sold my first photo at 14 of which I was very proud at the time. I then went on to build my own field camera in 1968. I used some walnut logs my grandfather had cut down. I bought the best of everything and was proud of it until I went to shoot with it. It was Gadawful monstrosity but I took photos with it because I had built it. Finally a generous old man took pity on my and taught me about synergy when building a camera. And also between a camera and lens and subject. Fortunately I learned at 18 I did not know as much as I thought I did. I stayed with the field camera until the early 80s when I began to use the 645 camera. I still see 4X5 and shot everything planning on a crop to 4X5 or 11X14. I got a 35mm in the early 90s. I could not get the prints I wanted from it. But found it convenient for snapshots. I did try digital cameras early on when 2 mp cameras came out. My third digital camera was an Oly UZI. I had so much fun with that camera and still take it out just to remember what fun it was. I did some home and garden photography to pay for my gear and sold prints through a gallery until this year. I kinda used photoshop starting with version 3.0 in the mid 90s. But, I have never learned how to use it very well. When I get something I liked I would save it as an action or later as a preset cause I could never quite remember what I had done. For awhile I had all these monstrous. Which is what has lead me to Rob and trying to learn how to edit photos better. I had a G9 and an EM1mkII and good lenses until cancer and associated bill caused me to have to sell all my camera gear. I was in a bed fed through an IV and unable to eat or drink. Then a miracle occured and in one night I was healed. Took another year to regain my body. I bought an EM10II and kit lens to start again. As I sold a few prints, I got a prime and longer zoom. I just recently added my second EM1 as they will be good enough until I get a set of good lens. I use the EM10II (never liked the III) and a12-60 as my hiking and walkaround camera and lens. I had a strap to carry a camera on each side so I do not have to change lens. I am learning how to use zooms. I never really had them for snapshots. But have found that I can take a subject at 24mm, then at 50, then at 100, and then at 200 with out changing lens and just walking around. That way I have a choice of backgrounds for the same subject as I work the composition. I am hoping to learn from all of you and what you do to expand my photo taking capabilities and the many processing options I am so unaware of.
