Hello to Rob and Forum community members. My name is John Fallows and I live near Manchester, England, UK.
Until I retired from being paid to take images about eight years ago I have been a professional photographer since 1969, and an amateur for some years before that.
My first 'proper' camera was an Exa SLR which was poor man's Exakta Varex, the worlds first commercially available 35mm SLR.
My work 'tools' have been Canon, Exakta, Fuji, Nikon and Olympus still cameras, Bolex and Beaulieu cine cameras and Sony, Hitachi, JVC and Panasonic video equipment.
I have worked for the UK National Health Service and Royal Air Force, sometimes both at the same time which would surprise some of you..........and surprised me as well! During the time I have had photo jobs in the UK, the Netherlands and Cyprus.
My own digital cameras have mainly been Olympus, starting with the D-230 Brio, then E410 SLR and these days TG-6, Pen-F, EM5 Mk3 and EM1 Mk2 with a wide range of lenses, some PRO. I have to admit that one of my favourites is the Olympus 9-18mm wide-zoom which seems to under-rated by many but 'compact' it really is.
The reason I chose Olympus when I retired was simply Quality and Weight [or bulk] of equipment. I also own-up to having a Panasonic TZ70 which I rate highly as a pocket camera, but wouldn't give to my grand-children, which I do with the TG-6 [survives with no problems].
My new added reason for sticking with Olympus is weather-sealing......but that's another story!!
I post on Instagram only.
