I thought this is a unique concept. Most photographers have good memories of yesterday and using film cameras. The film as a recording medium is "passive" and responds to the luminance reaching the film.
The digital image sensor is a little different. When you master the basics you can start to better control the image sensor. Do you need to? Probably not that much or is it not that important because we never tried? What if you had more info and you could start to experiment?
See my latest article here: https://myolympusomd.blogspot.com/2020/ ... ticle.html
It explains sensor sensitivity and why this is so important for modern photographers. We always have the option to optimally expose the image sensor and get the max performance (image quality) from it or to go creative and to really play with the available light. When to do what and why this is important...
I hope this info is as interesting for you as it was to prepare the article...
Best
Siegfried
