Reds, Diffraction, & Sensors Part 1

Diffraction is based on the wavelength and opening. Since red is the longest color wavelength I always shoot it at F/4 or faster on m43 to keep details in it. I use a linear profile and post process. The linear profile keeps the real RAW so there is nothing to recover as there is with one of the camera profiles. If I have to chose a camera profile, I use muted to keep the reds detail. Then adjust the using HSL and Selective Color.

BTW, blue is the shortest wavelength and if a blue light is used when shooting for a depth of field you can pull out more details. Red is 750 nm, blue is 450nm. Which is quite a a difference in how fast the colors diffract and lose detail. I tried to keep this simple with no technical terms. This is for taking the photos. Red can also bloom on video displays which is a simple matter or desaturating it a bit.
