OM-1 histogram in EFV to small

Post by Johann »

I got my OM-1 2 almost weeks ago and had a lot of expectations.

My biggest complain is the small histogram at the top left corner of the EFV. It is hard to see, at least for me, because I'm concentrating on framing the shot, sometimes there is not much time and then I miss the histogram, because it is so small, compared to my M1.mk3.

The second complain is the lever button, if you touch it with your thumb, you can't tell if position 1 or 2 is selected, because it is so small, I like it more on my M1.mk3, again it's probably only me ...

I really like the animal focus tracking, otherwise I would go back to my M1.mk3.

Does anyone feel a bit the same ? or is it just me to take more time to get adjusted to the OM-1.

Hi Johann

I read your previous posts and it seems you were very happy with your EM10 IV, right? I am a little puzzled when I see someone starts with the negatives first on something like the OM-1. Not that the histogram or the little lever might not be a major thing to you, I was just hoping to see some wow... I like this or I like that introductory comments first...

I think one needs to remember that the OM-1 was designed to enable M43 photographers to compete with photographers with seriously capable cameras. Only from a technological point of view, there are no comparison to anything we know in the M43 world. That does not mean the EM1 III is not an amazing camera. I upgraded in Dec 21 to my EM1 III and I am amaized at the improvements it offers over the MKII. I can only imagine what to expect with something like the OM-1.

If my advice is worth anything, then pls read the most recent article on my blog and follow my advice.

Best

Siegfried
