I was saddened to find out this lens didn't have sync is. The lens is and the ibis will work together. It's less straightforward though. Robin Wong explains it well in his video review on YouTube.

Sorry. This should have been posted in the native lens forum.

Robin did a great job. There is a new firmware update for the E-M1-III for this lens.

Rob opined that maybe sync is could not be used or would not be effective because this lens goes to 400mm and longer than 300mm like the 300 f4 in today’s webcast on YouTube. Now he did say he was clearly speculating, but if true, I do still find it disappointing since the Panasonic 100-400 does have sync is. I guess I will have to wait for more reviews of the is because maybe the lens is it has works better than Panasonic’s sync is at the long end?

I’ve been hearing rumbling that this lens is actually manufactured by sigma and licensed out to Olympus. Could be why it doesn’t sink with bodies. Either way it seems like a excellent lens.

It not having sync is doesn’t really matter if the is it has works well. As long as it provides good results who really cares?

For those comparing this new Olympus lens to the Panasonic 100-400 there is a review that gives an opinion and discusses the effectiveness of is:

I as looking at these but I have the Olympus 75-300. I think I will wait for the 150-400 pro lens to come out. It will probably be way more expensive but a significant upgrade at least more worth considering.

That’s a very good review. What does shock me is how much smaller the Panasonic is. I am 45 but disabled. I walk with a cane and have limited use of my left hand. I shot micro four thirds before becoming disabled but now the small size and weight is of paramount importance to me. For hand holding, the Panasonic looks to probably be much easier to hand hold. Especially with my EM5 iii mixing platforms aside. I still have to actually try holding them though.
