WorkSpace vs DXO Photolab 3

Hi !!!

I have my collection of photos in a NAS but since I have been using Olympus Worspace I first download everything in my hard drive and, once I am done curating and editing, I just export a copy to my NAS for sharing and storing. I am trying to find a workflow that goes smoothly but Oly Worspace, despite being a great tool is SOOOOOO slow ... that I have been considering alternates. Most of the alternates (not Adobe, one time payment) seem to have people upset due to flaw process of ORF files but it looks like DXO Photolab does a good job. Anyways it looks like there is nobody considering that in the forum .. is that right? is it worthy? I have tried the trial version and it flies !!!

Thanks

I don't have any recommendations beyond Adobe, but wanted to acknowledge your question. I hope someone can help.

I haven’t used DxO PhotoLab 3 but people do seem to like it.
No product will honor all the styles and features of the Oly like Workspace.

I also recommend trying Capture One Pro. They offer a fully functional 30-day trial.
Capture One Trial Download

One thing I really like about Capture One is their Session vs Catalog workflows. Sessions are great for new work. Sessions are file based and fast. Capture One also offers the very best in tethering if that peaks your interest. Studio and product photographers use it quite a bit.

Take a look at all the videos that Capture One offers on their Capture One Learning Portal.

I have a YouTube channel with some helpful videos as well and I am an affiliate for Capture One so I get a little commission if you use my links to download and purchase.

I used Adobe for a long time, then moved to Apple Aperture for 3-4 years until Apple ceased development. I tried Adobe Lightroom again in 2014 and the performance was just dreadful so I tried Capture One Pro. It took some learning but I am so happy with it now. Super powerful and great performance on macOS. I can’t speak to Windows performance since I don’t own Windows systems.

I would also add that Capture One is offering 25% off through Sept 30th. The offer is available on the Capture One Web Store.
Enter TAKE25OFF at checkout.

Also consider that Capture One offers perpetual licenses and subscriptions so you can choose the license model you prefer. They usually offer a new major release around the end of November each year. If you bought a perpetual license now you would have to pay the upgrade fee to the new version in November. You could get a month-to-month subscription now, then purchase a perpetual license in Nov/Dec when the new version comes out.
