ED 75-300mm f/4.8-6.7 II for Moon shots

As per the subject. I'm wondering if the ED 75-300mm f/4.8-6.7 II will be long enough to get some decent moon shots. I'm currently using an old Tamron 500mm mirror lens with a fixed f8. I struggle on times to get focus.
