Ayers Rock

Post by deboco »

Hi
I can't decide if I should go to the expense of printing and framing these,as a pair, 3ft x 1ft. I never print photos so not sure if they will look any good if they are large. I would crop them so that the rock is in the same position on each. These jpgs are untouched, I o have the raws. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Deb

Hi,

i`m not an expert, but i don`t think that you`ll get good results with a print as big as you want - 3ft. That is almost 1m. Never printed something so big... Nevertheless, its a nice shot.

Thanks Paul
Might have to have another idea. I have hundreds of shots, many different shades as the sunsets. Maybe I will try a collage.
BTW - I enjoy your photos on the live chats, makes my compositions look very basic!

I like the light on the first one, hence I suggest you crop some of the foreground. The rock really deserves the attention.

Shadows

Post by deboco »

One of my favorite things about Autumn is the long shadows, so I thought I would try to capture some.
Could I have some tips on capturing shadows?
In this image I have my new variable ND filter on. Apart from adjusting the dial, I know very little.

I am going to try again tomorrow when I can get the sun, the image and the bricks straight. Too late today, sun was at a angle

If you have several photos of Uluru taken at different times of the day from the same vantage point what about printing several from dawn to dusk adjacent to each other across a large print?
I only had the opportunity to spend a few hours there but would like to return and spend more time to be able to really appreciate the wonderful colour variations of the sacred monolith.
