Here are some initial tests I’ve done using DXO PureRaw.
Raw Image straight export to jpg:
Pen F, iso 6400
This is a 100% crop from my PenF Raw at iso 6400 compared to DXO PureRaw
I processed the image on the left the best I could using the noise reduction tools in Lightroom then did a little processing to the dxo pureraw image. It’s not even close!
E-M1 Mark III, iso 25600
Straight export raw image to jpg with resize to 1080
Here is the DXO PureRaw processed comparison at 100% crop:
Below is the E-M1 Mark III DXO PureRaw image vs Full frame Panasonic S5 raw unprocessed raw image:
Pretty impressive. Some initial observations:
At iso 6400, tremendous improvement in noise reduction and recovery of details. I would not hesitate to use DXO PureRaw on anything below iso 6400.
At iso 25600, same improvement in noise reduction but some details lost and a few artifacts from the artificial intelligence. The E-M1 Mark III just lost too many details and there is a color shift that I can’t blame DXO PureRaw.
I’m planning on a full review of this software with as many examples from my own photo catalog. I’ll also provide full-resolution images for you to pixel peep. Stay tuned!
